Wild Forage Finder collects certain information to power identification, save your foraging history, and provide app features across devices. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it’s handled.
What Data We Collect
To create your account and use the app’s features, we collect your email address, a user ID, and your user type (e.g., free or premium).
Photos for Identification
When you scan a plant or mushroom, your photo is sent to our identification servers to return a species identification. Photos are not sold or shared for any purpose beyond identification.
Data Stored on Our Servers
The following is stored on our servers so it stays available across your devices: saved badges and achievements, saved recipes, saved foraging spots, your scan history, seasonal item data, and your account information (user ID, email, user type).
Location
The app uses Google Maps to show your position and nearby foraging spots. Location is used to power map features and is handled in accordance with Google’s own privacy policy in addition to this one.
Advertising
The App displays non-personalized advertisements through AdMob. AdMob may collect limited technical identifiers necessary to serve ads, but does not use your data for personalized ad targeting at this time. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated and the app will request your permission before any tracking occurs.
Third-Party Services
We work with the following third parties, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase — photo storage and app infrastructure
- Google Maps — map display and location features
- AdMob — displays ads and may collect device identifiers for that purpose
- Apple — processes in-app purchases and subscriptions through the App Store
- Third-party identification services we use to return species identification results
Children’s Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13.

Wild Forage Finder provides general identification guidance only. You use this App entirely at your own risk. Always verify any wild plant or mushroom identification with a certified expert before consuming anything. The App is not a substitute for professional advice, and we accept no responsibility for any harm resulting from its use.
Your Choices
You can delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us below. You can revoke camera, photo, or location permissions anytime in your device Settings.
