About Wild Forage Finder App
We built Wild Forage Finder for the person who stops on a trail to wonder what that plant is. For the cook who wants to know where their food actually comes from. For the seasoned forager who never stops learning, and the curious beginner who just needs a place to start.
Wild Forage Finder is a foraging app rooted in community, safety, and a genuine love of the natural world. Whether you’re scanning a plant you’ve never seen before, saving your favourite foraging spots on the map, or working through a new seasonal recipe, the app is designed to grow with you. Every scan, every find, and every badge earned is a step deeper into the forest and closer to the food that’s been growing there all along.
We believe foraging is for everyone. Not just the experts. Not just the wilderness-ready. Anyone willing to look a little closer at the world around them will find it full of things worth eating, learning, and sharing.
What you’ll find inside
A plant and mushroom identification scanner built with safety at the forefront. Seasonal spotlights that tell you what’s ready to find right now. A growing recipe collection that puts your finds to work in the kitchen. Foraging locations mapped and saved by a community of people just like you. And a badge system that turns every outing into something worth celebrating.
The Wild Food Recipe Book
The Wild Forage Finder Recipe Book is the app’s companion in print. A collection of seasonal, forage-forward recipes for every skill level, it’s the book that sits on your kitchen counter after a morning on the trail. From garlic mustard phyllo parcels to dandelion bread with lemon glaze, every recipe starts with something you can find yourself. Because the best meals begin before you ever reach the kitchen.

Rooted in community
Wild Forage Finder wouldn’t exist without the foragers, writers, and farmers who’ve shaped how we think about wild food. A special thank you to Jacob Murray and the team at Topsy Farms on Amherst Island, whose trails, stories, and deep connection to the land have been an inspiration from the very beginning. topsyfarms.com

Cooking is about passion, so it may look slightly temperamental in a way that it’s too assertive to the naked eye.

What we believe
The land is generous if you pay attention. Most of what we walk past every day is edible, useful, or both. Wild Forage Finder exists to close the gap between what grows and what gets cooked.
Slow knowledge is good knowledge. Foraging rewards the careful and punishes the overconfident. We take identification seriously, include safety notes in every recipe that needs one, and never encourage harvesting anything without confidence.
Seasons matter. We don’t believe in foraging out of season, over-harvesting, or treating the land as a resource to be used up. Every recipe in this library respects the plant, the ecosystem, and the season it belongs to.
Community grows things too. The best foraging knowledge lives with the people who have been doing it longest. Wild Forage Finder is built to share that knowledge through contributor recipes, farmer spotlights, and a community of people learning together.
Anyone can start. You don’t need a certification, a course, or expensive gear. You need a willingness to look, a reliable field guide, and the good sense to start small. Wild Forage Finder will meet you wherever you are.
